A Low-Cost Range Finder Using a Visually Located, Structured Light Source

چکیده
In this paper we show how the cost of a structured light, range nding system can be substantially reduced by visually tracking the structured light source. To be able to recover range measurements using a structured light range nder the relative positions of the struc-tured light source and light sensor must be known. This is typically achieved by carefully controlling the position of at least one of these components using expensive mechanical actuators. Instead, we propose that little or no control is placed on the positioning of these components and that the position of the struc-tured light source is determined using visual feedback. A low-cost prototype system employing this principle is presented.

Unified Pulsed Laser Range Finder and Velocimeter using Ultra-Fast Time-To-Digital Converter
In this paper, we present a high accuracy laser range finder and velocimeter using ultra-fast time-to-digital converter (TDC). The system operation is based on the measuring the round-trip time of a narrow laser pulse. A low-dark current high-speed PIN photodiode is used to detect the triggered laser beam and to produce start signal. The pulsed laser diode generates 45W optical power at 30ns du...

This is a survey of the resolution of data gathered by different 3D-imaging devices. The sensors covered in this paper consist of the Asus Xtion Pro Live [1], Microsoft Kinect [2], Microsoft Kinect with Nyko Zoom Lens [3], and Hokuyo URG04LX Laser Range Finder [4]. The results of this survey suggest that the Asus and Kinect (both with and without the Zoom Lens) possess similar capabilities, and...
متن کاملMulti Light Sources Range Finder System
This paper describes a new range finder system which projects multi light planes. The purpose of the system is t o get 3-D data of objects a t high speed and with high accuracy. To realize the purpose two new techniques are introduced. One of the techniques is its optical system: each light source is composed of a laser diode and a cylindrical lens, and projects a light plane on the object. Fif...

متن کامل3-D Measurement of an Object by a Mobile Robot Equipped with a Laser Range Finder
In this paper, we propose a 3-D measurement method of objects by a mobile robot equipped with a laser range finder. When a robot picks up an object, it is important to reconstruct its entire 3-D shape, in order to grasp it properly. Therefore, the robot is required to measure the object from different directions to integrate 3-D data. In our method, the robot is equipped with the laser range fi...
